ADMINISTRATION AND GENERAL SERVICES, DEPARTMENT:
The Department serves to be the Central Coordination Unit, by way of coordinating the activities of all other departments of the Ministry to comply with objectives of sound policy formulation, initiation, and implementation through an administrative mechanism that favors to the general progression of the Ministry and its entire ramification. The Department also controls and supervises all the Ministry’s general services including Asset and Liability to ensure proper scouting and accountability in accordance with the provisional State Civil Service rule. The Department, however, renders its services through the following sections/ Unit, these are:
• Registry both Open and Secret
• Record section
• Store section
• Account unit
• Audit unit
• Messenger, Securities, Cleaners, Gardeners, Watchmen, and Drivers.
The Department is headed by a Director (Admin & General Services) on posting from Office of the Head of Civil Service assigned to invigilate and direct the procedural operation of the Department for effective service delivery in conformity with the Ministry’s mandates and objectives.
The Department becomes an intra-action unit that helps in designing integrational plan, coordination, strategies, and directives toward the smooth operation of the entire Ministry’s administration protocol.
The Director (AGS) is, however, to report to the Permanent Secretary being the Accounting Officer of the Ministry on any related administration technicalities perceived relevant to the existing condition or situational report that deemed apt in policy containment and articulation or recommendation where necessary. It also determines and rectifying the progression of the Ministry’s personnel by constituted the Ministerial Promotion and Disciplinary Advisory Committee.
The Department as mentioned thereof plays overall supervision over the whole Ministry’s activities to complement the government effort geared toward developing the Agricultural Sector of the State.
